For children 5 years and older who are starting their swimming journey.
L1 - Splash Makers: Building Trust and Comfort in the Water
Water Acclimation: Start by helping the child get comfortable in the water. Encourage them to splash, play, and blow bubbles.
Submerging the Face: Gradually have the child practice putting their face in the water by blowing bubbles and holding their breath.
Floating: Teach the child to float on their back and stomach with assistance. Use gentle support to help them feel buoyant.
Jump and Climb: End this stage by having the child jump into the shallow end and climb out, building confidence in entering and exiting the pool.
L2 - Wave Riders: Body Position and Kicking
Streamline Position: show the child how to stretch their body in a straight, streamlined position. Arms should be extended above the head, hands together.
Kicking Practice: streamline position, chin down, bubbles, long legs, practice flutter kicks, ensuring their legs remain straight with a slight bend at the knees, and toes pointed.
Kickboard Use: Introduce a kickboard for added buoyancy. Let the child hold onto it while practicing their kick.
Jump and Climb: Complete this stage with the child jumping into the water and climbing out, reinforcing their growing skills.
L3 - Current Gliders: Arm Movements
Streamline position: practice, bubbles and arms by their sides.
Arm Strokes: start with doggie paddle, then move to freestyle arm movement breaking down the stroke into “pull” and “recover” phases.
In-Water Arm Practice: Assist the child in practicing arm strokes while standing in shallow water, focusing on alternating arm movement.
Supported freestyle: arms, little kicks, chin on chest, blowing bubbles
Jump and Climb: End this stage with another jump into the water and climb out to emphasize comfort and progress.
L4 - Reef Skimmers: Coordinating Arms, Legs
Combine Movements: Encourage the child to combine arm strokes and kicking. Start with short distances and gradually increase 6 metres
Assisted Swimming: Walk/stand alongside the child offering gentle support and encouragement as they swim.
Jump and Climb: Conclude this stage by having the child jump into the water and climb out, showcasing their ability to coordinate movements.
Little Rippers (45 minute Mini Squad
Our Mini Squad is designed for young swimmers who are ready to take the next step in their swimming journey. Swimmers in this group work towards swimming up to 25 metres with confidence, while learning new skills such as tumble turns, diving, breaststroke technique, and butterfly kick. The focus is on building strong foundations, refining the strokes they already know, and preparing them for future squad levels in a fun and supportive environment.
Barrel Pros (Transition Squad)
The Transition Squad is designed for swimmers who have completed the core Learn to Swim levels and are ready to begin structured training in a squad environment — but who may still be developing stamina, consistency, or technique across multiple strokes.
Entry criteria: Confident swimming over 25–50 metres, with basic stroke technique and water confidence
For swimmers who have progressed beyond the fundamentals and are ready for more structured and challenging sessions.
Swimmers will focus on improving stroke technique, building fitness, learning basic squad etiquette (like lane order and turns), and developing a love for training. The emphasis is on fun, skill progression, and setting a strong foundation.
Entry criteria: Able to swim at least 50 m confidently across multiple strokes
For experienced swimmers refining performance and training at a higher level.
Designed for swimmers with a strong technical base who are ready to develop speed, endurance, and advanced skills. Training includes interval work, starts and turns.
Entry criteria: Strong technique across freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke and has the ability to train for longer sessions.
Adult lane swimming is for adults (16 years and over).
These sessions are ideal if you want to swim uninterrupted lengths. It is unsuitable for weak or non-swimmers.
Please note that you may have to share lanes. When full we would have a maximum of 4 per lane.
